Get Involved

St Mary's is a church with something for everyone. Here are some ways that you might like to get involved.

Small Groups

We encourage everyone to develop their faith and fellowship by joining a small group.  These groups meet during specific seasons, such as Lent and Advent, or run throughout the year. There are currently four groups all of which welcome new members. Find out more.

Choir

Our Organist Helen Bendall welcomes anyone who would like to sing.  We have a children’s choir for 7 years and older which rehearses on Friday evenings with the adult choir at 7pm.  Membership of the choir is about commitment to practice and to the work of giving glory to God through music.  Find out more by contacting our Organist.

Bell ringing

We have a very fine ring of eight bells at St. Mary’s.  The ringing is not automated – it requires the efforts of bell ringers.  Tower captain John Cowburn leads the team and is always seeking new recruits. Practice is on Wednesday evenings at 8pm.  Find out more.

Serving our local community

Serving our community is an important part of how we serve God. Every month we support the Godalming Foodbank and run a Hearing Aid Clinic (click here for more details). Throughout the year we hold special collection for a number of local charities. We also spend time in St. Mary’s Primary School leadings assemblies, supporting learning and helping wherever we can.

If you’d like to lend a hand with any of our community projects, let us know

Serving the Wider World

St Marys is an Eco Church, so we are working hard to ensure that we take care of God’s creation. If you have a passion for looking after the planet and want to be involved in this work please get in touch.

Joint Churches

St Mary’s is a strong ecumenical partner. We work closely with Chiddingfold Baptist Church and St Teresa’s Roman Catholic Church to offer a unified Christian witness in the Village. Together we host dozens of events a year including the annual Welcome Lunch for those who have recently moved to the village, CAMEO, Messy Church, a Christian Aid Coffee Morning and much more. If you would like to  work alongside Christians of diverse traditions to strengthen our common faith and make a difference in our community, please let us know.

Food for Fellowship

We want to get to know each other better and want to spend time together, so there are lots of opportunities for to do that over food and refreshments at St. Marys. Every Sunday after the 10am Parish Communion there is for coffee and biscuits in the Church Room. Every third Sunday Parish Breakfast is served from 8:40am in the Church Room. With our ecumenical partners, we run a group for older people with tea, cake and entertainment that meets twice a month. Throughout the year there are seasonal opportunities to enjoy special meals as we mark important mile-stones in our lives. Keep an eye on our E-pistle Newsletter and our Facebook page for more information. If you’d like to help us put on any of these events please do get in touch.
