Caring Teams

Caring for a Grade 1 listed building is a big responsibility.  Thanks to wonderful teams of dedicated volunteers the church is always ready to welcome.

The Church Keepers make sure the church is open every day of the year and make sure it is warm and welcoming for all who enter.  This is a huge commitment of time and dedication to detail as during special seasons such as Advent and Lent there are often additional duties to perform.  This team also prepare the church for weddings and early morning communion services.

The cleaning team, apart from having a weekly rota of volunteer cleaners, gather for a concerted effort before major festivals such as Christmas and Easter to ensure everywhere is sparkling. Contact the Parish Secretary if you are able to give your time.

The Churchyard Working Party meet every first Saturday of the month to maintain the churchyard - all ages get involved,  Tasks usually involve weeding areas such as the gardens of remembrance, pruning shrubs, planting bulbs and sweeping pathways. Heavy tasks such as grass cutting are undertaken by contractors.  Volunteers are very welcome as many hands make light work.  Everyone enjoys a refreshment break mid morning  and the quicker the jobs are completed the sooner a well earned drink can be shared with friends in The Crown!  Contact the Rector if you are able to give your time, even occasionally.

The flower arranging team ensure that there are flowers in church at all times.  Sometimes simple arrangements in a vase or two or for festivals or special occasions much more elaborate arrangements.  New members of the team are always welcome.  Contact our Churchwardens Chris or Lily to find out more.
