The following small groups meet at St Mary’s for fellowship and spiritual connection and growth. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Who are we? A mixed group of all ages and stages along the journey of faith who enjoy guided meditation with music. When do we meet, what do we do? We usually meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month in church at 10.15 until 11 am. Some stay on after the reflective service of Holy Communion (starts at 9.30am), others come just for Wellsprings. This group offers a quiet space to allow the life giving spirit of Jesus to refresh us as we reflect on stories from the gospels. It is not a discussion group although conversations and sharing may take place afterwards. Dates for 2016/17 Sept 28th, Oct 26th, Nov 23rd, Jan 25th, Feb 22nd, March 22nd Who to contact? Faith @ Faith's
Who are we? A mixed group of women and men of different ages and stages united by an interest in matters of faith and spirituality. When do we meet and what do we do? We usually meet at 10.30am on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at Lockswood Cottage, Petworth Road, almost opposite The Swan. Meetings start with coffee, conversation and prayer. We usually follow a course which includes a bible reading and reflection followed by questions to promote discussion. Who to contact? Faith Reynolds: 01428 683239 / firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Compline Group
Who are we? We are a mixed group of all ages and stages along the journey of faith who meet to pray together for an hour, following the traditional order of service for Night Prayer known as Compline. Compline means ‘completion of the working day’ and was the last of the seven daily offices of prayer kept by monks since the 6th century. We pray, as they did, for the needs of the world, the church, the local community, for those we know and for one another. When do we meet, what do we do? We meet at 7.45pm on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Cricket Green Cottage, School Lane. The evening begins with a time of welcome and settling, a short reflection followed by sharing of requests for prayer. During the time for prayer each person takes the ‘holding cross’ and either puts a prayer into words or prays with others in silence. After a few minutes the cross is passed to the next person. At 8.45 the time of prayer is brought to a close following which people leave quietly. All agree that what is spoken remains confidential. Who to contact? A Place at the Table
Who are we? We are a mixed and friendly group of people, some attend church and some don’t. We gather around Faith’s kitchen table for fellowship, food, spiritual input and lively conversation. When do we meet, what do we do? We meet monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Lockswood Cottage, Petworth Road (almost opposite The Swan) from 7 – 9pm. We make plans in advance for a simple meal and everyone brings what has been agreed. The meal starts with the Grace and lasts for around 45 mins; then we continue, while seated at the table, to reflect together on whatever we have chosen. We recently enjoyed “Six encounters with Jesus from the Gospel of Luke”. Alternatively we may discuss a topic introduced by one of the group. We close with prayer. Emmaus: Sharing the Journey
Who are we? We’re a mixed group at different stages on our Christian journey who enjoy meeting together for Bible study, discussion and prayer. When do we meet, what do we do? We meet twice a month on Monday evenings at 7pm for about an hour at 26, Ashcome. We open with refreshments and general conversation before moving to our focus for the evening, perhaps a book from the Bible or a readymade faith study course. As fellowship and trust have grown we have been able to support one another through periods of difficulty and have shared joyful answers to prayer. Who to contact?
